IFA 12th International Conference on Ageing 2014, Hyderabad, India

The International Federation on Ageing is co-hosting the 12th international conference in India from June 10 – 13, 2014. The theme of the conference is “Health, Security and Community” and speakers from across the world will cover wide-ranging topics including palliative care, poverty in ageing, meeting needs in rural and remote communities.
The Sir William Beveridge Foundation is an associate member of IFA and will be represented at the conference by Maj. Gen J.K. Das, the Foundation’s Head of Operations in Bangladesh.
“I am very much looking forward to attending this conference,” said Maj. Gen Das. “It will provide an enormous learning opportunity for our work on care for the elderly in Bangladesh as well as in the UK. The chance to meet and talk with experts and others working in the field of elderly care from across the world will provide different perspectives that I am sure the Foundation will find of great interest.”
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Rahman Jilani said: “This is the kind of world platform where the Foundation will have a presence in order to extend our knowledge but also to share our experiences and inform others of the work we are pursuing in elderly care in Bangladesh, particularly our work on dementia that has implications for all developing countries. The people most likely to develop dementia are over 60 years of age so it is a very important topic for NGOS and other organisations operating in the realm of elderly care.”
